Migraines and Seizures
Three Types of Headaches
“Headaches are of three general varieties: tension, cluster, migraine. Epidmiological studies show us interesting things, such as the fact that tension headaches are seven times more prevalent than migraines…women are more than twice as likely as men to get migraines, and there does seem to be a perimenopausal dimension to them. Tension headaches may be episodic or chronic, while cluster headaches are known to be periodic, vicious attacks of a half-hour to three hours in duration. Migraines may last much longer, may be chronic, and are sometimes accompanied by auras, light and sound sensitivity, strange visual phenomena, nausea, and often almost total incapacitation for days at a time.”

Seizure and Migraine
“Migraines are thought by some neurologists to be seizure-like in their action. We have had lots of opportunities with incipient or even full-blown migraines [for Low Energy Neurofeedback]. The results can be dramatic: often the headache is aborted on the spot or its severity is greatly reduced.” Page 226.
Less Pain means More Energy
“LENS is indeed an “anti-seizure” procedure. By stimulating the patient… we disrupt recruitment [of problematic brainwave-frequencies], or nip seizure-like beginnings in the bud. This is reflected in greater CNS [central nervous system] stability overall, as sleep normalizes, and life apparently becomes less stressful. Often headaches decrease… and we remember that migraines are seizure-like in their action. With the decrease of physical pain, there is an improvement in energy because, as [LENS inventor] Len Ochs says, one recovers all the energy one previously spent defending against the pain.” Page 235.
Seizures and Epilepsy Research
Because astronauts were having seizure reactions to fumes from rocket fuel, the National Institute of Health funded Dr. M. Barry Sterman to do a large, rigorous study on why a strong 12-15 Hz rhythm of brainwaves prevented seizures. The robust results of this study were published in the prestigious journal Epilepsia: “A new, noninvasive treatment for epilepsy had been born.” Page 226.
Neurofeedback for Tourette Syndrome, Muscle Tics, and Stroke
Among the 75,000 people who have tried LENS neurofeedback, many have come to find relief from Muscle Tics, Tourette’s Syndrome, or to regain functioning after a stroke. Most of these people have seen dramatic improvement, since all these conditions in the seizure category are controlled by the Central Nervous System. LENS speaks to the brain in its own language, mirroring back the brain’s own faint signals, allowing it to address a combination of symptoms all at once. Many times the onset of symptoms can be traced to a concussion, or mild Traumatic Brain Injury.
“I was amazed. Twice I walked into his office with migraine symptoms that vanished within five minutes, and were gone the rest of the day.
And not only was the migraine gone, but I had tons of energy!”
